Scuba Shack
Whether you are
an accomplished diver, or a novice wanting to discover the amazing underwater
world of Cape Town, you are always welcome at Scuba Shack.
Our company is run by
a bunch of young (...and old) fun loving people. We like it this way. Everyone
that dives with us becomes part of our large extended family. We aren't joking!
We do our best to keep the holiday spirit up and running all year round.
Scuba Shack has 2 Padi Dive centres in Cape town, one of them
a Five Star Instructor Development Dive Resort. It's our mission to provide you
with a great and safe dive experience. Excellent service is provided by our
knowledgeable, friendly staff who are passionate about diving and high quality,
well maintained dive equipment, boats and vehicles.
In Kommetjie you find our purpose build training-centre with
it's own training-pool. Our fully stocked retail shop has a large range of dive
equipment and accessories. The Cape Town shop is our booking office and meeting
point with daily transport to the Kommetjie shop and dive sites.
The Longstreet
travel centre also has it's office there and
they can do all other travel and adventure bookings, your 1 stop travel centre
where experienced consultants can help you.
The Shop, & Air Filling Station
A full range of services is available to divers.
Scuba Shack offers equipment rental with 5 mm two-piece wetsuits (there are some
7mm wetsuits as well). Equipment purchases can be made at our shops, where you
can choose from brands like Scubapro, Aqua Lung, Tusa, Bright Weights, Seaquest,
H20, Technisub and many more.
We take care of equipment servicing. Our Bauer K14 compressor fills cylinders
with air and nitrox.
Courses
We believe that the start of your diving adventure should be good. That's why
when you are doing a course with Scuba Shack we make sure you get the best ! We
have one of the finest dive shops in South Africa waiting for you - specially
designed to make courses as easy as possible. Classroom and swimming pool are
just 30m apart making sure we don't waste time travelling between locations. We
have also a very experienced team of Instructors available with thousands of
dives behind them.
To ensure there's as little stress as possible for our students we have no time
limits on our course ! That's how confident we are that we can teach you to dive
Our classroom seats 12 students and is equipped with full audio-visual aids and
full range of PADI teaching materials.
Boat Dives and Shore Dives
We have a fully rigged 7.3 metre semi-rigid dive boat, which can comfortably
accommodate 12 divers, 2 divemasters and the skipper. The boat is equipped with
full safety gear, including oxygen. Our qualified skippers are medically trained
and are also qualified PADI Divemasters.
Refreshments are served after every dive. Normally we go out on Wednesday,
Saturday and Sunday but in season we also launch on other days. For groups of 6
or more we can also launch on request.
Shore dives can be booked and dived 7 days a week - weather permitting. We take
small groups of max 6 people on the different shore dives available and our
knowledgeable Divemasters will introduce you to the wonders of Cape town diving.
Scuba Dive Permits
In 2007 we saw the introduction of the dive permits as part of the establishment
of the Marine Reserve. The Marine Reserve runs roughly from Muizenberg in False
Bay to Green point on the Atlantic site. That means the the whole of the Cape
Peninsula is a protected zone. South Africa is way ahead of the rest of the
world in declaring so much of its coastline a Marine Reserve.
For us as Scuba Divers this means that you will need a dive permit to dive. You
