Come and enjoy the delights of the Karoo and explore South Africa's newest National Park, the Camdeboo National Park.** Graaff-Reinet has numerous sites that are worth visiting and there's plenty do whilst in town. Full day or mulit-day guided tours available to the Baviaanskloof. A "kloof' that stretches more than 100 km between the Kouga Mountains (in the South) and Baviaanskloof Mountains (in the North). This Wilderness area, a U-shaped reserve currently occupying 180 000 hectares, is named after the baboons commonly found in the area, with baviaan being the Dutch word for baboon. Prior booking is necessary. Game Viewing in the Camdeboo National Park There are 43 mammals, 336 plants and over 220 recorded species of bird life to be found in this region. Early explorers were amazed at the vast herds of game that roamed the area, especially the Springbok. People fondly recall these herds taking 3 days to pass. These animals are still prevalent in the district and many farms carry the white and black Springbok. Game viewing trips are available - book at Camdeboo Cottages. A game viewing trip ending with a bushbraai at the lapa can be organized. A bushbraai consists of sundowners, a traditional Karoo meal and the secluded nature of the site allows for great stargazing. 4x4 trips into the mountains on the Eastern side of Graaff-Reinet are available. The road is only accessible in a 4x4 vehicle and prior booking is necessary.	Camdeboo Cottages is situated in the heart of historical Graaff-Reinet at 16 Parliament Street. Each cottage is a national monument that has been lovingly restored to its former glory. Now again the cottages boast with yellowwood floors and reed ceilings. Camdeboo Cottages has a restaurant & bar, a swimming pool, secure parking and B&B or self-catering accommodation. Tours are also on offer to the nearby highlights such as the Valley of Desolation, Agava (Tequila) Factory and Camdeboo National Park. Come and enjoy a relaxing time in the Gem of the Karoo, as Graaff-Reinet is fondly called. Take time to relax and stroll through the streets and see the more than 200 homes that have been declared national monuments or visit the interesting museums in town. All units have televisions, en-suite bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens, a lounge/dinning room and secure parking. Coffee & tea making facilities are in all units All linen and towels are provided. Rooms are serviced daily. Breakfast and dinner is also available. Meals at Camdeboo Cottages We offer dinner in the evenings by prior booking only. Meals on offer include - Springbok, Karoolamb, Chicken Schnitzel, Springbok pie & lots more. See our menu at reception upon arrival. The following meals are available for groups by prior arrangement only: A Typical South African braai Enjoy a traditional Karoo braai around the swimming pool at Camdeboo Cottages. It is an ideal setting to enjoy a few drinks while the sun sets over the mountains, later by candlelight guests are treated to a traditional three-course meal consisting of meats, breads and various salads. Drinks are also available. A glass of Withond, the local housedrink, is a must for all. 3 course Springbok & Babotie evening Enjoy 2 traditional South African meals - Springbok is a tender meat that everyone should at least taste once and Baboties is a spicy dish made with curry and lots of spices and shows the Malay influences on South African food. Enjoy this typical South African meal in 3-courses around the swimming pool at Camdeboo Cottages. 3 course Karoolamb Enjoy a 3-course meal around the swimming pool at Camdeboo Cottages. Bar facilities are also available. The meal consists of soup, Karoo lamb, veggies of the day, rice & roast potatoes. Various salads are available along with dessert, coffee & tea. Potjiekos This tasteful meal is very unique to South Africa. It consists of meat cooked with various vegetables and potatoes in a black iron pot on an open fire for more than four hours. The dish is served on a bed of rice. This meal is also served with a soup starter, dessert and filter coffee & tea. Kudu Steak evening Delicious Kudu steak is prepared in a special home-made marinade and served with various salads, a potato dish and bread. This meal is also served with a soup starter, desert and filter coffee & tea. Special meals available on request. Light lunches are also served around the swimming pool - try the Karoolamb Salad or the Springbok Salad.
